Bangalore-based arts trust Toto Funds the Arts has invited entries for the eighth edition of its yearly awards for music, photography and writing. Past winners of the award for music have included Myndsnare, Demonic Resurrection, Lounge Piranha, Shefali Alvares, Another Vertigo Rush, Rosemary and Lucid Recess. The trust only allows original music in any language and the competition is open to all Indian musicians between the ages of 18 and 29
Describing the intent behind the awards, the trust website says “TFA recognises exceptionally talented bands and individuals making any kind of music, in any language, from rock to folk or metal to jazz.” Through the awards, the trust seeks to target the “community of young artists from across India, eager to explore their own talents and share them with a larger audience. The TFA awards are by no means the end of this quest, merely the beginning; we hope, through them, to give you a fledgling sense of a larger world of opportunity, to say to you, in effect, ‘Don’t stop now’.”
The last date for submissions is 10 September. The winner will receive an award of Rs. 50,000. For details, visit http://www.totofundsthearts.blogspot.com/.
